Seven reasons to hold a hotel wedding

Although there is a trend towards quirky one off wedding venues, or intimate home based events, a large number of couples are still choosing to hold their wedding reception at hotels. A hotel venue is still an elegant, practical, and often affordable option, and here are seven good reasons to hold your wedding at one:

  1. To retain customers, hotels need to be well maintained, stylish, and comfortable. Good hotels are regularly updated and renovated to make them attractive, so if you choose a hotel as your wedding venue you can be sure your wedding will take place in a modern, elegant space.
  2. A hotel will be able to provide accommodation for you and your guests, meaning that you don’t need to worry about transport after the reception. Your guests can also relax and have a drink safe in the knowledge they don’t need to drive home. You can also arrange a wedding brunch at the hotel the day after so you get to extend your wedding by a few more hours. Many hotels will throw in the use of the bridal suite for free if you are spending a certain amount on your wedding.
  3. Many hotels offer an on-site wedding planner, or at least a dedicated events co-ordinator, who will have a great deal of experience in holding weddings at that venue, and will be able to take a lot of the stress off your shoulders. They should have a list of local suppliers, and may have negotiated reduced rates with them. They will also be able to tell you what works and what doesn’t at their venue, and they will be close by on the day to ensure everything is running smoothly.
  4. A hotel should be able to provide all the facilities you need for a top class wedding, including a bar and lounge area, a dining area, and space for dancing. They should also have good bathroom facilities, and be able to provide extras such as a room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready, and a secure room for gifts and honeymoon luggage.
  5. Some couples worry that they may need to share a hotel venue with another wedding party, but this is only likely to happen in large hotels in peak wedding season. If you choose a smaller hotel, or get married at a quieter time, you should have your venue all to yourself apart from other residents. You may find that sharing isn’t actually so bad. You’ll be having so much fun you probably won’t notice, and you may even be able to negotiate a discounted rate if you need to share facilities.
  6. Many hotel venues offer standard wedding packages with an overall rate per guest. This makes budgeting easier, and ensures that you have the basics covered; you can always add personal touches and individual elements to your wedding in addition to the hotel’s package.
  7. Hotel venues are frequently licensed to carry out civil ceremonies, meaning you can have your entire wedding, including ceremony and wedding night, in one place. This reduces the stress and cost of moving from place to place, and can allow you to settle into your surroundings and enjoy your day.
