Description

The National Portrait Gallery is a dramatic and culturally rich venue for your next event. Our elegant building has the greatest respect for the local environment, natural light and human proportions. And it is home to the national collection of portraits. Invite your guests to come face to face with the famous, the infamous and the sometimes forgotten icons of Australian history.

The Gallery features multiple flexible event spaces which can cater to any style of event, including breakfasts, seminars, conferences, workshops, launches, meetings, cocktail receptions, seated dinners and wedding ceremonies and receptions. Many spaces can be used simultaneously to create a vibrant event your guests will remember.

Allow us to paint the possibilities of your wedding reception. Your invited guests arrive at 6.30pm, parking in our free underground carpark. Our security team will greet guests at the front doors, and elegant canapes and beverages will be presented. Meanwhile you and your bridal party may enjoy having photographs taken in the magnificent gardens of the parliamentary triangle.

Your cocktail reception may begin in the stunning Gordon Darling Hall, featuring timbers from every state in Australia and westerly views into Reconciliation Place. Or it could be in the external Forecourt, an all-weather venue ideal for cocktails.

The Gallery team will then invite your guests into the Gordon Darling Hall or the Terrace Room overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. Guests will enjoy entree, main course and dessert followed by speeches, cake cutting, bridal dance and dancing.
